In his college time he traveled throughout Europe and got inspired by the works of architects Mies van der Rohe and Walter Gropius. His graduation project won him a gold medal. Designed by Jacobsen and Flemming Lassen in 1929. It won the Danish Architect's Association Competition. It made him recognized and cemented his position as an ultramodern designer. His design looked revolutionary. Jacobsen is primarily remembered for his furniture design. He saw himself as mainly an architect and a lot of his successful chair designs were made with in the context of architecture. Jacobsen believed in holistic designing and would often design all elements of a building, he was inspired by Ernesto Rogers who believed hat all design was equally important and quoted saying that design happened from the "spoon to the city." Some of his most renowned and successful designs were the ant, the egg and the swan chair. (egg chair on the top left, the SAS royal hotel on the top right and Arne Jacobsen on the bottom right).
